Collection for the “Share the Warmth Winter Drive” sponsored by members of the local ROAR for AJ group, has been extended to Friday, Dec. 13. Donations go to help foster children in the community stay warm this season in honor of 5-year-old Andrew “AJ” Freund, whose April death devastated (and still does to this day) community members. All new and gently used winter coats, hats and gloves will be accepted in addition to new winter items including pajamas, slipper socks, and throw blankets.
ROAR, created for those committed to actively pushing for a change in the judicial system’s handling of DCFS procedures, continues providing opportunities and resources for those who ask what they can do or how they can get involved in efforts to help ensure what happened to AJ doesn’t happen to another child.
Items can be dropped off at the District Office anytime at 1500 Carlemont Drive, Suite D, Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Please go to the delivery entrance for the office and place your items in the bins provided. Diagram below:
